About Persicaria nepalensis (Meisn.) H.Gross

Persicaria nepalensis (Meisn.) H.Gross is a flowering plant species belonging to the Polygonaceae family. It is native to eastern Africa (including Madagascar) and select regions of Asia. It has been introduced to other areas across the globe: parts of Europe including Great Britain, parts of North America including British Columbia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and Pennsylvania, and northern South America. This species was first formally described as Polygonum nepalense by Carl Meissner in 1826. It was later transferred to the genus Persicaria by Hugo Gross in 1913; an identical transfer was published later in 1934 by Kingo Miyabe. As of 3 May 2019, Plants of the World Online attributes the authorship of this Persicaria combination to Hugo Gross's 1913 transfer.
