About Persicaria capitata (Buch.-Ham. ex D.Don) H.Gross
Persicaria capitata (Buch.-Ham. ex D.Don) H.Gross is a prostrate herb. Its leaves measure 1–6 cm long and 0.7–3 cm wide, marked with pink to red bands or blotches, and covered in short scattered hairs. Its flower spikes are 5–10 mm long and 5–7 mm in diameter. This species is native to Asia. It has become naturalized in parts of Australia and North America. Between 2008 and 2013, it was recorded as an invasive plant in Ireland, specifically in Counties Fermanagh, Kilkenny, Wexford and Mayo. In China, Persicaria capitata has been widely used to treat various urologic disorders, including urinary calculi and urinary tract infections.
