It can be found in the eastern United States, as well as in the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. The wingspan of adult moths ranges from 31 to 37 mm. In the southern part of its range, adults are active from March through September, with two separate flight periods: one from May to June and a second from August to September.
