About Penstemon heterodoxus A.Gray

Penstemon heterodoxus A.Gray is a perennial herb. It produces stems that grow upright, reaching a maximum height of 65 centimeters, or it can grow as a low, spreading mat. Its leaves range from lance-shaped to oblong, and the upper pairs of leaves sometimes clasp the stem. The inflorescence is glandular, and is composed of 1 to 6 separate clusters of dark purple-blue tubular flowers. Each flower is just over one centimeter long. The outer surface of the flower typically has glandular hairs, while the inside of the flower has hairs along the floor of the flower mouth and on the staminode.
