This moth is found in the United States and has been recorded specifically in the U.S. states of Alabama, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Vermont, and Wisconsin, as well as in the Canadian province of Ontario. The wingspan of Pelochrista matutina measures around 16.5 millimeters.
