About Pedicularis verticillata L.

Pedicularis verticillata L. is a perennial herb that grows 15–35 cm (5.9–13.8 in) tall. Its central stems are erect, and bear hairs arranged in four lines. The leaves have white petioles 3 cm (1.2 in) long. Leaf blades are oblong-lanceolate, measuring 2.5–3 cm long by 1–1.2 cm wide, and may reach up to 1.8 cm wide in some specimens. Basal leaves and stem leaves are the same length. This species has a red, ovoid calyx that is 6 mm (0.24 in) long. It produces dense, racemose inflorescences that bear white flowers. The purple corolla is 1.3 cm (0.51 in) long, and its lower tube is bent. The galea is falcate, 5 mm (0.20 in) long, and rounded at the front. The plant's capsule is lanceolate, apiculate, and measures 1–1.5 cm long by 4–5 mm wide. Its seeds are 1.8 mm (0.071 in) long.
