About Pectocarya setosa A.Gray
Pectocarya setosa is an annual herb that produces a slender, rough-haired stem. The stem is generally upright to erect, reaching a maximum height of about 23 centimeters. Its small, pointed linear leaves are alternately arranged along the upper stem, and oppositely arranged along the lower part of the stem. The inflorescence is made up of a series of flowers, with each flower growing from a curved pedicel. Each flower has small green sepals lined with hairs and long bristles. The fruits produced are rounded or oval nutlets with membranous wings along their sides. This plant is native to western North America, including Northwestern Mexico (Baja California and Sonora), and the Pacific Northwest and Southwestern United States. It grows in many types of habitat, including desert scrub, woodland, and grassland, and can be found in the Mojave Desert, Great Basin, and Sonoran Desert.
