About Pavonia hastata Cav.

Pavonia hastata Cav. is a spreading subshrub or shrub that grows up to 1.5 metres high. Its leaves measure 10 to 60 mm (1 to 6 cm) long and 10 to 25 mm (1 to 2.5 cm) wide, and are attached to 3 cm long petioles. The leaves are shaped ovate to oblong, with a heart-shaped or willow-shaped base, and have toothed margins. The upper leaf surface is covered in rough hairs, while the lower leaf surface is hairy. This species is native to Brazil, Bolivia, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. It was previously classified as also native to Australia, but this classification is no longer accepted. For cultivation, Pavonia hastata Cav. can be easily propagated from seed or cuttings.
