About Parthenice mollis A.Gray

Parthenice is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Asteraceae. Only one species in this genus is currently known: Parthenice mollis, which is commonly called annual monsterwort. This species is native to three counties in Arizona, United States—Pima County, Santa Cruz County, and Cochise County—and to northwestern Mexico, specifically the states of Sonora, Chihuahua, Sinaloa, and Baja California Sur. Two varieties of Parthenice mollis are recognized. Parthenice mollis var. mollis is found in Arizona, Sonora, Chihuahua, and Sinaloa. Parthenice mollis var. peninsularis Sauck is native to Baja California Sur.
