About Parrhasius m-album (Boisduval & Le Conte, 1833)
Parrhasius m-album, commonly known as the white M hairstreak, is a butterfly species that belongs to the family Lycaenidae. This butterfly is found in the United States, with its range stretching from western Connecticut to southeast Iowa, and from southern Missouri to east Texas, along the Gulf Coast, and across peninsular Florida. Rare strays of this species have been recorded as far north as Michigan and Wisconsin. The lower portion of this species' wings is often iridescent. Females of this species are larger than males. The wingspan of Parrhasius m-album ranges from 32 to 41 mm. The larvae of this butterfly feed on Quercus virginiana and other oak species in the genus Quercus. Parrhasius m-album larvae are light green in color.
