About Parmotrema crinitum (Ach.) M.Choisy

Parmotrema crinitum, commonly known as the salted ruffle lichen, is a corticolous (bark-dwelling) foliose lichen that belongs to the family Parmeliaceae. Swedish lichenologist Erik Acharius first formally described it as a new species in 1814 under the name Parmelia crinita. Maurice Choisy moved the species to the genus Parmotrema in 1952, giving it its current scientific name Parmotrema crinitum (Ach.) M.Choisy.
