About Parietaria officinalis L.

Parietaria officinalis L., commonly called eastern pellitory-of-the-wall, upright pellitory, and lichwort, is a species in the nettle plant family. Unlike many nettles, its leaves do not have stinging hairs. It typically grows on waste ground and on walls, which is the origin of its common name pellitory-of-the-wall. Pollen from this plant is a common trigger for allergies. Historically, the species was used to produce certain types of metheglin.
