About Parietaria hespera Hinton
Parietaria hespera Hinton is a species of flowering plant in the nettle family, commonly known as rillita pellitory. It is native to the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. It grows in a wide range of habitat types, ranging from coastal areas to deserts, in both dry and moist conditions, and sometimes grows in disturbed areas. This plant is an annual herb. It can grow in an erect or spreading form reaching up to half a meter long, or grow into a mat or dense tangle. Its stems may or may not branch. The stems bear alternately arranged leaves, each up to 2 centimeters long. Leaf shapes vary from oval to round, and can also be somewhat kidney-shaped. The inflorescence is a cluster of flowers that grows from the leaf axils. The flowers have no petals, but have greenish sepals that may be tinged yellowish or reddish brown. As of November 2013, this species was not accepted by The Plant List, which classified its taxonomic status as unresolved.
