Juvenile Paratrophis microphylla plants have distinctive fiddle-shaped leaves and a divaricating growth pattern. This species grows in lowland forest areas, where mature individuals reach around 12 metres (39 feet) tall as trees. Also called the small-leaved milk tree, it flowers from mid-spring to summer, and produces red berries from late spring to autumn.
