Paratettix meridionalis (Rambur, 1838) is the type species of the ground-hopper genus Paratettix. This genus falls within the subfamily Tetriginae and the tribe Tetrigini. The known distribution of Paratettix meridionalis covers southern Europe, northern Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and there are also recorded occurrences of the species in Mexico. Neither the Catalogue of Life nor the Orthoptera Species File list any recognized subspecies of Paratettix meridionalis.
