About Parapoynx diminutalis Snellen, 1880

Parapoynx diminutalis is a moth species in the family Crambidae, described by Pieter Cornelius Tobias Snellen in 1880. It was originally endemic to southeast Asia, and is also present across northern, eastern, and southern Australia including the Northern Territory, Queensland, and New South Wales. It has since additionally been discovered in the United Kingdom and the United States. This moth is also found across Africa, with recorded occurrences in Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, South Africa, Botswana, Angola, the Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, and Madagascar. Males of this species have a wingspan of 11 to 14 millimeters, while females have a larger wingspan ranging from 16 to 23 millimeters. The larvae of Parapoynx diminutalis feed on Hydrilla and Nymphaea plant species.
