About Paragyrodon sphaerosporus (Peck) Singer

The caps of Paragyrodon sphaerosporus are 4โ€“12 centimetres (1+1โ„2โ€“4+3โ„4 in) wide, and display a blotchy mix of yellow to brown shades. The stem measures 3โ€“7 cm (1+1โ„4โ€“2+3โ„4 in) tall and 1.2โ€“3 cm (1โ„2โ€“1+1โ„4 in) thick, and turns brown when bruised or stained. This species is distributed mostly around the Great Lakes Region, but has also been observed further west in Kansas, Iowa, and Colorado. In Colorado, it is associated with white oak and gambel oak.
