About Pantydia metaspila (Walker, 1857)
This moth species, Pantydia metaspila, has a wingspan of approximately 30 to 42 millimeters. Its palps have a longer third joint. Males have hindlegs tufted with long hair that extends to the end of the tarsi, and their mid tibia lack masses of woolly flocculent hair contained in a fold. The body is ochreous brown with a black collar. Forewings are sprinkled with dark brown; a comma-shaped black mark sits above the inner margin before the middle of the wing. Faint traces of the orbicular and reniform spots are visible. A post-medial line edged with ochreous brown is present, with a series of fuscous marks located beyond this line. Hindwings are pale, with a diffused medial line and a fuscous outer area. The larvae of Pantydia metaspila feed on Dillwynia species, Vigna species (including Vigna marina), Gmelina species, and Glycine max.
