Panicum urvilleanum Kunth is a species of grass with two common names: desert panicgrass and silky panicgrass. It is native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, where it grows in sandy habitats, including desert sand dunes. It is also found growing in parts of South America. This is a stoloniferous perennial grass that grows up to one meter tall. Its hairy leaves can reach up to 45 centimeters in length. The plant's inflorescence is a branching, spreading panicle that grows up to 35 centimeters long. It bears oval-shaped spikelets covered in downy white or silvery hairs.
