About Panicum dichotomiflorum Michx.

Panicum dichotomiflorum Michx. is an annual grass that grows either decumbent or erect, reaching a maximum height of around one meter (3 feet). It can be told apart from its relative Panicum capillare (witchgrass) by its hairless leaves. Its inflorescence is a large, open panicle that grows up to 20 centimeters long and spreads out to a width of 16 centimeters. This species grows in moist habitats, including floodplains, streamsides, disturbed areas, and chaparral, and it requires full sun to grow. It flowers from mid-summer through fall.
