About Pancorius crassipes (Karsch, 1881)
Pancorius crassipes (Karsch, 1881) is a relatively large species of jumping spider. Males have a total body length of 10–11 mm, while females are slightly larger, ranging from 12–13 mm in total body length. This species has a robust, elongated body densely covered in hair, giving it a noticeably hairier appearance than many other jumping spider species. Its carapace is dark brown to black, with a distinct pale stripe running down its center. Its legs are relatively thick and robust; this trait gives the species its specific epithet "crassipes", which translates to "thick-footed". The abdomen displays varying patterns of brown and pale markings that differ between individual spiders. Pancorius crassipes is widely distributed across Eastern and Southeastern Asia, with confirmed records from China (including Taiwan), Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam. It has also been reported from Poland, though this record likely represents a recent introduction rather than an established wild population there.
