About Pammene regiana (Zeller, 1849)

Pammene regiana is a moth species in the family Tortricidae. It was first described by Zeller in 1849. This moth is found across most of Europe; it is not present in the Iberian Peninsula, most of the Balkan Peninsula, Lithuania, or Ukraine. The wingspan of adult Pammene regiana measures approximately 13 to 16 millimetres (0.51 to 0.63 inches). The forewings are dark fuscous in color. The posterior section of the costa has whitish strigulae that are yellower on the lower side. The species has a fairly large, yellow pentagonal median dorsal blotch that does not come close to reaching the tornus, and this blotch sometimes contains a small number of dark fuscous scales. A streak extending from the costa beyond the middle, as well as the margins of the ocellus, are bluish metallic. The hindwings are dark fuscous; in males, area 1c towards the termen has blackish suffusion. Fully grown larvae are whitish with brown heads and a pale ochreous prothoracic plate. Adult Pammene regiana are active from May through July. The larvae of this species feed on Acer pseudoplatanus, and they feed inside the seeds of their host plant. Pupation occurs inside a bark crevice.
