Confirmed recorded locations for this species include Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. It may also be found in Burundi. Its natural habitats are swamps and intermittent freshwater marshes.
