Palpita vitrealis is a species with a wingspan that can reach 27 to 31 millimeters. Its body and wings are translucent with a slight sheen. It has large, reddish-brown eyes. A rather broad orange or brown border runs along the upper edge of its forewings. Two black spots are also present in the middle of the forewings. Its legs feature alternating white and brown rings. This species occurs worldwide, across Africa (including Equatorial Guinea, Gambia, Kenya, Sierra Leone, and South Africa), Asia, Australia, and Europe. In Europe, it is mainly found in southern Europe, but may also be found further north.
