About Palpita quadristigmalis Guenée, 1854

Palpita quadristigmalis, commonly called the four-spotted palpita moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Crambidae. This moth is native to North America, with recorded ranges stretching from Quebec and Ontario in the north, south to Florida, west to Arizona, and north again to Colorado. The forewings of this species measure between 13.5 and 14.5 mm in length. The larvae of Palpita quadristigmalis feed on plant species in the genus Ligustrum. Larvae have also been documented feeding on Olea europaea, the common olive, in Texas. This species is considered a potential pest: larvae can completely defoliate entire olive orchards, and they also feed directly on olive fruit.
