About Paleacrita merriccata Dyar

Paleacrita merriccata, commonly known as the white-spotted cankerworm moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Geometridae. This species was first formally described by Harrison Gray Dyar Jr. in 1903. It is native to eastern North America, with confirmed records from central Illinois, eastern Missouri, west-central Mississippi, Louisiana, and eastern Texas. For male individuals, the forewings measure between 14 and 18 mm in length. Females of this species are wingless. Adult males are active in flight during March, April, and May in the northern parts of their range, and during January and February in the southern parts of their range.
