Paeonia intermedia C.A.Mey. ex Ledeb., commonly referred to as Paeonia intermedia, is a flowering plant species that belongs to the peony family Paeoniaceae. This species is native to Central Asia, excluding Turkmenistan, the Altai Mountains, and Xinjiang, a region in China. It is a perennial herb that can grow up to 70 cm (28 in) tall. It typically grows on scrubby and grassy slopes, and in open woodlands, at elevations ranging from 1,100 to 3,000 m (3,600 to 9,800 ft). This plant is a diploid with the karyotypic formula 2n = 2x = 10 = 6m + 2sm + 2st.
