About Packera multilobata (Torr. & A.Gray ex A.Gray) W.A.Weber & Á.Löve
Packera multilobata is a species of flowering plant in the aster family, with the common name lobeleaf groundsel. It is native to the western United States, ranging from California to Wyoming and New Mexico, where it is common and occurs in a wide variety of habitat types. This species is an annual or perennial herb that grows one single stem or a cluster of multiple stems reaching up to approximately half a meter in height, growing from a taproot and a branching caudex. Its leaves are divided into multiple lobes; the division is often so deep that the leaves appear to be made up of separate leaflets. The inflorescence consists of a wide arrangement of flower heads. Each flower head is lined with green or yellowish phyllaries, and holds many yellow disc florets. Most flower heads have a fringe of yellow ray florets, although these ray florets may sometimes be absent. Native American peoples including the Navajo and Yavapai used parts of this plant for medicinal purposes.
