About Ozothamnus cuneifolius (Benth.) Anderb.
Ozothamnus cuneifolius, commonly called wedge-leaf everlasting or wedge everlasting, is a shrub belonging to the family Asteraceae. It is native to forested areas of southeastern New South Wales and Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. This shrub grows up to 3 metres tall. Its leaves are cuneate (wedge-shaped) or spathulate (spoon-shaped), measuring 20 to 40 mm in length and 7 to 10 mm in width. The upper surface of the leaves is green, while the lower surface is covered in fine white hairs. In its native range, white flowerheads bloom from November to January. The species was first formally described in 1867 by Ferdinand von Mueller, the Victorian Government Botanist, in the publication Flora Australiensis. The description was based on plant material collected along the Snowy River, La Trobe River, and tributaries of the Genoa River in Victoria. Mueller originally named the species Helichrysum cuneifolium. The species was moved to the genus Ozothamnus in 1991.
