About Otiorhynchus vehemens Boheman, 1842

The scientific name of this species is Otiorhynchus vehemens Boheman, 1842. Adult individuals of this species reach a length of 16–18 millimetres, or 0.63–0.71 inches. Their bodies are black, with a wide greyish lateral band of fine hairs covering both the elytra and pronotum, and longitudinal grooves along the surface of the elytra. Active adult weevils can be found from April through October each year. This species is distributed in Italy and Switzerland. It inhabits forests of silver fir (Abies alba) and beech (Fagus species), occurring at elevations up to around 2,000 metres, or 6,600 feet, above sea level.
