About Ostrinia palustralis Hübner, 1796

Ostrinia palustralis is a species of moth in the Crambidae family, first described by Jacob Hübner in 1796. This moth has a trans-Palearctic distribution. Within Europe, it occurs from Sweden southward to Italy, and extends eastward through eastern Europe to Russia. It is not found in the western region of the Balkan Peninsula. The wingspan of adult Ostrinia palustralis ranges from 29 to 42 mm. The larvae of this species feed on plants belonging to the Rumex genus, specifically including Rumex hydrolapathum and Rumex aquaticus.
