Osmorhiza aristata (Thunb.) Rydb. is a perennial plant. Its stems grow upright, reaching 25 to 70 cm in height. Its leaves are oval with serrated edges, and measure 7 to 30 cm long. This species flowers from April to July, and is pollinated by insects. Its seeds ripen from June to July. This plant is endemic to Eastern Asia, specifically found in China, Korea, and Japan. It grows on mountain sides and stream banks at elevations between 200 and 3500 meters, in shaded areas under bushes and other vegetation.
