Osmoderma eremicola (Knoch, 1801), also commonly called the hermit beetle or hermit flower beetle, is a species of scarab beetle that belongs to the family Scarabaeidae. This species is found in North America, ranging from southern Canada through the U.S. Midwest and extending east to the state of Georgia. Adult beetles are large, measuring 21 to 32 mm in length, have a shiny dark brown body, and are reported to produce a distinct leathery odor. Individuals can typically be found in wooded areas, around tree trunks.
