About Orychophragmus violaceus (L.) O.E.Schulz
Orychophragmus violaceus, commonly called the Chinese violet cress, is a flowering plant species that belongs to the Brassicaceae family. It is native to northern and southeastern China, as well as North Korea, and has been introduced to Japan and the U.S. state of Virginia. This plant is an annual or biennial herb that typically grows to 60 cm (24 inches) in height. It can be found across a wide range of habitats, including areas disturbed by human activity. It is hardy in USDA zones 7 through 10. In China, it is cultivated as a vegetable for its edible stalks. The Royal Horticultural Society lists this species as "potentially harmful".
