About Orthonama vittata Borkhausen, 1794

This species, Orthonama vittata Borkhausen, 1794, has a wingspan of 23–26 mm, and forewings measure 11–14 mm in length. The forewings have a light brownish white ground colour, with several crosslines that run almost parallel to the hind margin. A narrow dark band is present in the midsection of the forewings, and a black distal dividing line connects to the apex. Along the forewing margin runs a line made up of small black dots. The hindwings are paler than the forewings and marked with several poorly developed dark lines. A small black discal fleck can be seen on all of the wings. In terms of distribution, this species is found from the Arctic Circle across Europe and Central Asia to Siberia. It is also present in Turkey and Kazakhstan.
