Orthetrum villosovittatum, commonly called the fiery skimmer, is a species of dragonfly belonging to the family Libellulidae. Its native range covers the Moluccas, New Guinea, nearby neighboring islands, and Australia. In Australia, this species occurs in Victoria, eastern New South Wales, Queensland, northern inland Queensland, Cape York Peninsula, and the northern part of the Northern Territory. It is a common dragonfly across most of its distribution range. Orthetrum villosovittatum is a medium-sized dragonfly with a wingspan that measures between 60 and 85 mm. Mature males have dark greyish to greenish-brown thoraxes and red abdomens, and their abdomens are constricted at the fourth segment. Young males have an amber and black color pattern. Female Orthetrum villosovittatum are ochre-coloured. This dragonfly species lives in boggy seepages, streams, and swamps.
