Orthetrum taeniolatum (Schneider, 1845) is a medium-sized dragonfly. This species has brown capped eyes, a greenish brown thorax, and a bluish abdomen. Females do not have the powder blue pruinescence seen on other individuals. The species prefers medium to slow-flowing streams located in dry zones and hot plains. Adult Orthetrum taeniolatum are commonly found around the open rocky and sandy beds of these streams.
