About Orthetrum glaucum (Brauer, 1865)

Orthetrum glaucum is a medium-sized dragonfly with a dark face and greenish blue eyes. In old males, the thorax is dark blue due to pruinescence. Its wings are transparent, with a dark amber-yellow tint at the extreme base. Blue pruinescence covers its abdomen up to the eighth segment, while the final two segments are black. Females and juvenile males have golden-colored abdomens, and brown stripes run along the sides of their thorax. Although females and juvenile males look visually similar, they can be distinguished by the shape of their final abdominal segment. This species breeds in marshes connected to forest streams, plantations, and canals.
