About Orthetrum albistylum (Selys, 1848)
Orthetrum albistylum, first described by Selys in 1848, is a species of dragonfly. Its common name is the white-tailed skimmer. This dragonfly is distributed across a range that extends from central and southern Europe to China and Japan. While its overall distribution is often patchy, it is common in many areas within that range. The species has recently expanded its range northward to the Baltic Sea coast of Poland. Currently, crop production is an ongoing threat that harms the habitat of Orthetrum albistylum. Water pollution linked to crop production also directly reduces the quality of this species' habitat.
