About Orocrambus cyclopicus Meyrick, 1882
Orocrambus cyclopicus is a moth in the family Crambidae. It was first described by Edward Meyrick, with the species publication year originally cited as 1882 in its scientific name, and is recorded as described by Meyrick in 1883 in this account. In 1975, David E. Gaskin incorrectly synonymised Crambus sophistes with Orocrambus cyclopicus. This species is endemic to New Zealand. It has been recorded in the eastern South Island and the southern North Island of the country. Its habitat ranges from lowland to alpine grasslands. The wingspan of adult Orocrambus cyclopicus measures 22 to 30 mm. Adult moths have been recorded in flight between the months of January and May. The larvae of this species feed on Bromus hordeaceus and Arrhenatherum elatius.
