About Orocrambus angustipennis Zeller, 1877

Orocrambus angustipennis, first described by Zeller in 1877, is a moth species that belongs to the Crambinae family. This species is endemic to New Zealand, and can be found across the North Island, South Island, and Chatham Islands. Male individuals of this moth have a wingspan ranging from 34 to 40 millimeters, while female individuals have a wingspan between 44 and 50 millimeters. Adult Orocrambus angustipennis are active from November through March, and produce two generations each year. The larvae of this species feed on plants in the Cortaderia genus, including Cortaderia selloana and Cortaderia toetoe. They feed inside the growing stems and blades of these host plants.
