About Opuntia huajuapensis Bravo

Opuntia huajuapensis Bravo is a shrubby cactus species that grows wider than it is tall. It has sparsely armed stems and yellow flowers, though its larger spines cover most of its pads. The fruit this species produces is sweet, with a yellow-green interior. This cactus is native to regions of Oaxaca, Puebla, and Tlaxcala in Mexico, where it grows at elevations between 2,000 and 2,700 m (7,000 to 9,000 ft). It grows primarily in Pre-cordilleran steppes and Oak-savannah habitats. No uses for Opuntia huajuapensis are currently listed. It has been introduced to parts of Spain, where it is grown as an ornamental cactus. It is classified as an alien invasive species in Europe, where it could pose a threat to local agriculture and tourism.
