Opuntia caracassana Salm-Dyck typically grows erect, reaching up to 1 metre (3.3 feet) in height. It produces yellow flowers and small, red fruit. This cactus is distributed across neotropical regions between northern South America and the Caribbean. Confirmed observed populations are located in Aruba, Colombia, Curaçao, and the Dutch Caribbean. Records from citizen science projects also note that specimens have been found in Costa Rica and Venezuela.
