About Opuntia atrispina Griffiths
Opuntia atrispina Griffiths produces flowers that open pale yellow, sometimes nearly white, and darken to rose as they age. This means a single plant can bear flowers in multiple different colors: cream, yellow, salmon, and rose. Newly opened flowers may even have a faint greenish tint at their center. Its spines are yellowish at the tips and dark brown at the bases. This species has a restricted distribution within the United States. In Texas, it occurs in a narrow 50-mile long strip of land ranging from near Uvalde to Del Rio and Langtry.
