About Opisthotropis andersonii (Boulenger, 1888)

Dorsally, Opisthotropis andersonii is blackish olive. Ventrally, its body is whitish, with the exception of the brown chin and lower labials. The snout is short, broad, and depressed. This species has a single prefrontal scale and only one pair of chin shields. Dorsal scales are arranged in 17 rows along the full body length; they are smooth on the neck, feebly keeled at midbody, and strongly keeled on the tail. Adult total length, including the tail, ranges from 38 to 46 cm (15 to 18 in). The tail makes up 15 to 20 percent of the total body length. O. andersonii is distributed in Hong Kong and Vietnam. Its preferred natural habitats are forest and freshwater wetlands, located at altitudes between 300 and 900 m (980 and 2,950 ft). O. andersonii reproduces via oviparity.
