About Ophthalmitis herbidaria (Guenée, 1857)
Adults of Ophthalmitis herbidaria have a wingspan of 36 millimeters. The base color of the moth ranges from grass green, grey green, to yellowish green, and is covered with fine black speckles (called irrorations). The abdomen has paired black specks along its dorsal side. On the forewings, black lines are present in the waved antemedial area, and the dentate medial, post-medial, and submarginal areas. Black lines also occur on the hindwings, in the medial and submarginal areas. Both the forewings and hindwings have a row of black specks along the margin. On the underside of the moth, each wing has a large spot at the end of its cell. Caterpillars of this species feed on host plants from the genera Diospyros and Casearia.
