About Ophrys holosericea subsp. holosericea

Ophrys holosericea, commonly known as the late spider orchid, is a flowering plant species belonging to the orchid family Orchidaceae. It is native to western and central Europe, as well as the Mediterranean region. There has been considerable confusion around both the correct identity of this species and the correct spelling of its scientific name. This species is pollinated by Eucera bees, which are deceived by the flower, as the bloom mimics the appearance of a female bee.
