About Ophonus puncticeps Stephens, 1828
Ophonus puncticeps Stephens, 1828 is a black species with brownish legs and antennae. It is phytophagous, and has a body length of 6.5โ9 millimetres (0.26โ0.35 in). In Ireland, this species was once thought to occur in Belfast, where it was first recorded in 1902. The original 1902 record was first determined to be Harpalus puncticollis, a species described by Paykull in the same year, and later confirmed to actually be Ophonus rufibarbis.
