About Onomarchus uninotatus (Serville, 1838)

Onomarchus uninotatus is a species of pseudophylline bush cricket belonging to the family Tettigoniidae. It is native to South Asia, Southeast Asia, and southern China. This is a fairly large, leaf-like bush cricket. Adult individuals are green, though preserved specimens often fade to brown after death. On average, adult males measure around 6 cm (2.4 in) in length, while adult females average 7.5 cm (3.0 in) long. Nymphs are smaller, have small underdeveloped wings, and can be either green or brown. This common, nocturnal species is herbivorous in both its adult and nymph stages. It is sometimes classified as a serious pest when it feeds on the foliage of fruit trees, particularly jackfruit trees.
