About Oncidium ensatum Lindl.

Oncidium ensatum Lindl., commonly known as the Latin American orchid or Florida dancinglady orchid, is a species of orchid. It is native to southern Florida, southern Mexico (specifically Chiapas and the Yucatán Peninsula), Central America, Cuba, the Bahamas, and northwestern Venezuela. This orchid is most often epiphytic, meaning it grows on other plants, but it can occasionally grow as a terrestrial plant rooted in soil. Excluding its inflorescence, it reaches up to 100 cm (39 in) in height. Its leaves are shaped from narrowly linear to lanceolate, with each leaf growing up to 10 cm (3.9 in) long. The plant's inflorescence is either arching or hanging, and can grow as long as 250 cm (98 in). Its flowers are yellow with brown spots.
